How did you decide to start your venture – “RedPolka.com”?

The idea has come from the need gap of many great designers that can be enabled through curated marketplace and on the other hand, there are discerning women shoppers who want to go beyond the obvious and have the convenience of discovering great designs on their fingertips. There is a large void of great deigns in non-branded, elegant fashion which needs to be fulfilled.

Challenges and surprises are never in shortage for startups. We also face them, overcome them and continue with our line of work on a daily basis. My top 3 challenges are

Attracting talent:

We are always on a look out for hiring the right talent for the company. At Red Polka, we need people with varying skill sets. Right from fashion editors, curators, engineers

Funding:

Like any other startup, we are also looking to raise funds. We believe infusion of fresh money into the company will help us grow faster.

Expand Red Polka’s horizon:

I would very much like Red Polka becoming synonymous with discovering designers in India. We want to further build on our USP of discovering and offering curated line of designer products for our shoppers.

What keeps you going?

A stellar team –  their passion rubs off on me to perform better than the previous day. In a short span of little over a year, we have won trust and support from our designers and consumers alike who want to see more collections on our site. Their confidence in us, keeps me going.

How do you see yourself evolve going forward?

We are taking steps to bridge the gap in fashion experience through several initiatives like the Red Polka Show, Wishlist, etc. We will strive to serve our shoppers better and better.

What is one advice you have for anyone else wanting to start something on their own?

Ask yourself if you are passionate enough about your idea? If yes, go ahead, you will learn to cross the hurdles.
