Red Polka was started in Jan 2015 with an aim provide a common e-commerce platform for  home grown designers and women shoppers who are on a look out for fresh designs. Currently, they have more than 200 designer labels on board.

We call ourselves a team of storytellers. We believe behind every design, label or an idea, there is a story worth telling and it helps our shoppers understand various products showcased on our portal better. In our content platform Polka Coffee  we publish weekly curated editions based on interest graphs of the shoppers who visit Red Polka regularly

Red Polka is also working on integrating online experience with offline. with the ‘The Red Polka Show’, which showcases our designers work to customers through an exclusive exhibition. We have had 4 exhibitions so far and the response has been very encouraging.

About Vishakha

Vishakha Singh is a well-known shopper marketing expert with a branding experience of over 16 years. She has worked in media conglomerates like Network 18 and The Times Group. Her last corporate stint was at Future Media, a Kishore Biyani promoted company. At Future Media, she was involved from company’s inception after which she launched her own Shopper Marketing Agency.

Having worked with some of country’s top media brands, she has a simple philosophy- “what gets seen gets sold”, in her words; Jo Dikhta Hai Wo Bikta Hai. She advocates that brand building is a growth strategy and thus needs a structured approach.

She also believes in actively supporting women 80% of their merchant partners are women who are creating dynamic designer products, and Red Polka work culture supports working mothers through flexi-timing.

Vishakha believes in a simple philosophy- “Jo Dikhta Hai Wo Bikta Hai”

She serves on the IAA (International Advertising Association – India Chapter) board where she works on knowledge sharing and growth for advertising and marketing professionals through various IAA initiatives. On personal side, she supports child adoption as a cause and NGOs working in the space. She is also responsible for institutionalizing ‘StreeSanman’ at Zee Cine Awards as to highlight respect for women through GEC content.

How did you decide to start your venture – “”?

The idea has come from the need gap of many great designers that can be enabled through curated marketplace and on the other hand, there are discerning women shoppers who want to go beyond the obvious and have the convenience of discovering great designs on their fingertips. There is a large void of great deigns in non-branded, elegant fashion which needs to be fulfilled.

Challenges and surprises are never in shortage for startups. We also face them, overcome them and continue with our line of work on a daily basis. My top 3 challenges are

Attracting talent:

We are always on a look out for hiring the right talent for the company. At Red Polka, we need people with varying skill sets. Right from fashion editors, curators, engineers


Like any other startup, we are also looking to raise funds. We believe infusion of fresh money into the company will help us grow faster.

Expand Red Polka’s horizon:

I would very much like Red Polka becoming synonymous with discovering designers in India. We want to further build on our USP of discovering and offering curated line of designer products for our shoppers.

What keeps you going?

A stellar team –  their passion rubs off on me to perform better than the previous day. In a short span of little over a year, we have won trust and support from our designers and consumers alike who want to see more collections on our site. Their confidence in us, keeps me going.

How do you see yourself evolve going forward?

We are taking steps to bridge the gap in fashion experience through several initiatives like the Red Polka Show, Wishlist, etc. We will strive to serve our shoppers better and better.

What is one advice you have for anyone else wanting to start something on their own?

Ask yourself if you are passionate enough about your idea? If yes, go ahead, you will learn to cross the hurdles.
