How To Lose Weight

Losing weight is perhaps the most dogmatic issues for our generation. It is affecting people of all generations, even teenagers, smitten by models and actors want to lose weight to look good. Is has clearly become an obsession for everyone. The old age conventional focus on health and wellness seem to have weaned off. People pay thousands to dietitians, gym memberships, yoga classes and zumba classes to get that perfect shape they are looking for. Let’s look at some of the eye opening details here:

Who should lose weight?

You should attempt to lose weight only if you are overweight. To get the correct weight, This is determined by Body mass index (BMI). To find your BMI, use a BMI calculator. A BMI of:

  • 19 or less is underweight
  • 19 -25 is ideal weight
  • 25-30 is overweight
  • 30 or higher is obese

Consider your BMI. If it is on the higher side, in other words it is indicating overweight or obese, you are potentially at a risk of many lifestyle diseases like Type 2 diabetes, heart ailments, hypertension, gall bladder diseases among many others. BMI notwithstanding, every individual must make an attempt to remain fit and take care of your body. It’s the only place you got to stay in this lifetime!

How to get Fit

Include at least 30 minutes of brisk walking in your daily schedule.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.

Focus on overall health and wellness of your body rather than just losing weight.


Avoid these foods like plague

Reduce fried and oily food in your diet.
Ban refined food in all forms from your diet – including refined flour, refined cooking oil , refined grains and sugars. These are highly processed foods that do more harm to the body than good. They have minimal nutrients and just add extra calories to your diet.
Avoid packaged and ready to eat food from your diet. They contain preservatives, MSG and dehydrated vegetables which have no nutrition value.
Ban packaged drinks from your diet. They are packaged fruit juices and colas are simply put sugar in liquid form which just add calories to your diet.


Include these in your daily diet

Watch your calorie intake to lose weight faster. Include protein rich diet with dairy products like milk, tofu, fish, seafood like prawns  and egg white. Dal and pulses too (unpolished ones) are a good source of protein.
Include fruits like berries, apples, papaya and all seasonal ones available near you in your daily diet.
Include green leafy vegetables like kale, lettuce, spinach and veggies like tomatoes, green beans and cauliflower
