Are your Kids Physically Active?

With the onset of many lifestyle diseases and health issues surfacing in kids these days, it has become super necessary to  involve your kids in some form of physical activity. Paediatricians these days recommend that instead of scheduling playtime around studies,  parents should focus on scheduling studies around playtime.

Inculcating an active lifestyle in kids helps them imbibe these habits very early in life. These come with multiple benefits.

Benefits includes:

  • Improves flexibility
  • Boosts immunity
  • Builds bone mass and muscles
  • Maintains healthy weight
  • Promotes overall fitness and health
  • Improves sleep
  • Aids development of fine motor skills
  • Relieves stress

The result is a more socially friendly, happy child which we all want to have.

What kinds of physical activities can be included:

  • Evening playground trip
  • Going for walks in the evening or early morning depending your child’s sleep pattern.
  • Planning picnics or farm visits once in a while to get them out of urban environments
  • If there are nature trails in your city, visit those with your child to mix fun with walk.
  • Involving your kids in dance or karate or judo classes
  • Playing basketball, tennis, squash and the like activity in your residential society.
  • Swimming once or twice a week may also be a good idea.
  • If you have a dog, encourage your child to accompany you when you go out for morning or evening walks.

Its important to be aware of which activity your child enjoys more and let him or her indulge in those. After all, we all want happy kids around us. They should look forward to their palytime and enjoy every bit of it.
